Mirumiru Bubbletent is the first family friendly Bubbletent glamping experience in Australia. It’s a unique way to experience sleeping under the Milky Way here in Tenterfield.

With the parents sleeping in the main Bubbletent and kids in a Tiny Bubble Tent in a tree we thought we would share with you some more info to help you decide if this is the right holiday for you and your family.
How old do children need to be to glamp at Mirumiru?
Children must be over 7 years of age. We don’t accept babies.
What’s the maximum number of children who can stay?
3. Our Tiny Bubble Tent has a combined weight limit of 200kgs.
How many families can you host?
As this is designed to be a glamping stay, we host one family at a time at our Captain Thunderbolt site. We don’t host multiple families at our Captain Thunderbolt site at all.
Where do the kids sleep?
We have designed our campsites to host adults in our main Bubbletent, and children over 7 years of age in our Tiny Bubble Tent in a tree. Of course if you stay and you want to mix adults and kids between the two tents – you just need to stick to our strict 200kg limit for the Tiny Bubble Tent.
We call her Mary Ann Bugg, and she is located roughly 3 metres away from the main deck. You can fit 3 younger children easily into the Tiny Bubble Tent. 3 older children might be a tighter fit but it’s been done on a regular basis with some very happy glampers.
How high is the Tiny Bubble Tent off the ground?
The tree is about 70cm off the ground. There is a wooden tree stump step into the tent.
Do you provide sleeping bags?
We provide sleeping bags rated to -5 for each of our Tiny Bubble Tent guests. They also have access to a portable feather bed – a GlamSwag. It’s a feather mattress and pillow with a luxe linen cover. So if in the case of wanting to come in and sleep on the floor of the main Bubbletent they can.
What’s the difference between camping and glamping?
Camping is glamping without the unique tents and having everything ready for you to enjoy your stay onsite. Glamping means no setting up and taking down of tents. We have telescopes for star gazing, linen and towels for a family of 5, outdoor cooking facilities, an outdoor bath and shower complete with a shower curtain for privacy.
Our family guests bring clothes and food if you want to self-cater and that’s all you need!
Do you allow free camping? Can we bring our own tent if we have more than 3 children?
No – we don’t host families larger than 3 children as our Bubbletent stays are designed to be for a family of 5 maximum. And we don’t currently allow free camping in tents you bring yourself.
What can do you here?
The attraction here is to get off the grid – enjoy nature and the night-time stars, head out for some sightseeing in Tenterfield Village and the New England, take a walk to the top of Bald Rock, or swim in a local waterhole in a National Park – we have 6 around us. We want families to connect over a campfire toasting marshmallows and spending quality time together.
Are there farm animals to feed?
No – we are re-vegetating the farm and this means domestic farm animals have been removed. You can see wallabies, echidnas, many types of birds and plenty of bunnies that live in our blackberry patch.
Can I book Captain Thunderbolt and have my children sleep inside on the floor and not pay for the Tiny Bubble Tent?
The family cost will be applied to using the Tiny Bubble Tent or having children sleep on the floor on a GlamSwag.
What if I don’t feel like cooking?
Said every parent ever……you have two options here at Mirumiru. You can order from our catering menu – we offer pantry staples, breakfast, dinner, dessert and pizza options – or you can eat out in Tenterfield Village. Details of our menus are provided after you book.
What days can I stay?
Currently we have a 2-night minimum for weekends (Friday and Saturday night) and single night stays during the week (Thursday – Sunday). Surcharges apply for single night and public holiday stays (minimum night stays may also apply). Please note you cannot check in on a Saturday. Check in is between 3pm and 530pm.
What happens if it looks like we can’t book in on the dates we want?
This is THE most common question we have. If it looks like we are fully booked…it’s because we are! If you see the dates you want and they are available, then we recommend you book early.
How do I book for a family?
You book the Captain Thunderbolt campsite as normal and at checkout there is a drop-down menu – tick the family stay option of $100 per day (this covers the Tiny Bubble Tent, GlamSwags and Sleeping Bags) and pay as you would normally.
